Audrey d'Erneville
Audrey d’Erneville was born in Paris and made the world her home. Currently living between Dakar and Los Angeles, she also spent some of her childhood in South Africa. She strives to create work as rich and colorful as her cultural background.
Multi-faceted and creative, she has always been inspired by her Senegalese culture: the public transport vehicles called car rapides, barber shop signs, textiles, fashion and the kaleidoscopic colors of the city…. She creates place and history specific Senegalese pop art. Her background in graphic design is reflected in the typography and the layout of her paintings.
In July 2021, her work was shown to great success during the gallery show “L’année d’après” in the Théâtre Paris Villette, during the festival Génération A (Saison Africa 2020). Her first large scale painting was exhibited during Picasso Remix, at Galerie Le Manège (Dak’Art biennial). As a result The African Artist Foundation, selected Audrey or their yearly group show in Lagos. (“Shout Plenty” September 2022).
Audrey d’Erneville is also the founder and artist behind Chez Awa, a lifestyle and apparel brand focused on creating west-African inspired goods.
