Christie Harwell, “Cholvie” is a self-taught contemporary artist known for her vibrant abstract works that explore the human experience and emotions. Born in Winston Salem, North Carolina in 1981, Christie was brought up in a religious middle class family.
She relocated to Georgia over 20 years ago due to her affinity for Atlanta. She expresses her perspective on divinity, identity, and the stages of existence from life to death as well as gentrification and the impacts of social media on mental and spiritual experiences.
Her art ranges from static to dynamic compositions created with a vibrant palette and texture. She has exhibited in the Jack Sinclair Gallery, Future Gallery, Mutiny Artwrx Gallery, and has been featured in Spectacular Black Girl Art Shows and other various art shows in Georgia and North Carolina.
Christie’s work inspires with color, texture, expression, and wordplay.
